The place was clean and we loved superior queen room. Loved our rooms with gas fire. Location: the hotel was close enough to downtown and restaurants. Had supper enjoying drinks at nearby Paradise Pantry.

The staff are very very helpful and caring, managed the parking next to hotel. Make sure to get superior king room with 2 queen beds, a fireplace and the toiletries.

Good location, free parking, polite staff.
Outdated rooms, simple breakfast, very unstable wi-fi.

Easy to walk to the beach and the excellent downtown restaurants. Beautiful old California style, the staff was the best I have ever experienced, beautiful gardens, happy hour was fun and friendly. I'll be back.
Two very small east fixes: The toilet seat was clean, but old and badly stained. Should be replaced. And the balcony could have been cleaner, maybe a coat of paint and some hanging plants.

It is conveniently located to the downtown shopping area. The staff is helpful. The bed was comfortable.
The Bar next door was too loud and made it difficult to sleep before 2:30am. Parking was inadequate... We had to park on the street about 100 yards from the hotel. We had stayed here in the past and our sense is that the owners have allowed the place to deteriorate. (The toilet seat cover was broken; the carpet was worn (patches of carpet were missing in the closet) and we felt that we had to keep our shoes on because the carpet felt dirty.) The complimentary breakfast was out of regular coffee and decaf, as well as sweet rolls, so we skipped it.

I liked the room, tiny private patio, jacuzzi, location.
I didn't like that they thought I had canceled my reservation, which I didn'T. They didn't have a room for me until 11pm, check in was supposed to be at 3 and for my 8 hour inconvenience they only gave me ten bucks off.

Loved the whole wknd!(our first anniversary!)! It was lovely. We liked the vintage feel, the quaint room, the wine at night, breakfast in the am, close to downtown(the Mission), & the beach.
The staff seemed a little slow, as in, not eager or jumping to our aid, and clueless of the area. The desk attendant had never heard of yelp... Even though they are local they didn't know what to recommend (restaurants etc)

The first impression gained at any hotel is that given by the reception staff. This hotel was badly served by the receptionist who appeared to be engaged with other thoughts and didn't really seem interested in our presence. The room was very dark due to over hanging trees and even with the light on, did not present a welcoming feeling. When I asked about an ice bucket and water glasses, I was taken on a tour of other guest rooms to collect these items. The stay was topped off by some other guests who were drunk and noisy at 2am. I definitely would advise anyone to look elsewhere (unless you're desperate as we were on a holiday weekend)

Charming Stay with Great Downtown Access!
While not luxurious, my Superior Queen Room had vintage charm. I loved enjoying my coffee on the small balcony, despite its view. The hotel's proximity to local shops and eateries. Don't miss checking out breakfast early to snag fresh pastries!

This location was close to downtown Ventura.
There was no remote control for the TV, there was no shampoo in the room and we didn't get a morning wake up call as previously requested.

The coffee
One first site this place looked intriguing. From the moment we walked in, I was totally disappointed. One person manning the desk, no help in site. They did have one creaky old luggage rack and I mean one. The elevator smelled from mildew ( we took the stairs until we had to bring down our luggage). The room was ok, but you could see the dust flying in the light from the window back light. The great American breakfast consisted on reheated microwaved eggs, what seemed to be boiled sausage. One toaster, some small danish and Eggo waffles. The coffee was good, but they ran out. It was as if there were only 4 people staying there & they didn't care. The person manning the food was also cleaning the bathrooms, which did not give me the warm & fuzzies. The tv was from the 80's with a very poor picture and no menu or guide. The heater sort of worked. The shower was weak and would run cold if someone used any water anywhere. They left one towel and when I called for extras, they said they had them at the desk, I asked if I was supposed to come down naked and get one, they reluctantly brought more up, but amusingly there were 2 sets on the second day. It shares the property with a very nice park, but there are a bunch of homeless there. Would I recommend this to anyone? Not on my life, unless it was a last resort and there was nothing else available. A total thumbs down....except for the love of my life being there with me, made it tolerable.

Good location- short walk to the beach.
Dingy dark room and furnishings. Tiny pool. Small area to sit outside room but too dark to sit there- no sun at all.
